I started making soap in 2015 for completely selfish reasons: I wanted an endless supply of
skin-loving,
delicious smelling,
luxurious soaps for me and my family.

The First Years

In the beginning, I had a blast throwing everything I could think of into my batches of soap. Cucumbers? Whole blueberry puree? shredded coconut? It was all fair game. Drowning in soap we gave it to friends and neighbors and I was soon inundated with requests. I roped in John, signed up for a few local markets and Verano Bathery was born.

Growth Stage - Ready or Not

My soap experiments soon took over the kitchen, then the garage, and eventually the whole house. After a few years of weekend markets, after-work batches of soap and a very deep exhaustion, we inched our way out of our day jobs and jumped into the world of owning our small business and hit a learning curve that felt like a skyscraper.

The Milestones that Made Us

Phoenix Flea

Phoenix Flea was a huge part of our growth, we got to meet so many of our customers, got to know so many other makers, and connected with our first wholesale clients.

Moving Out!

We got our first space at a co-manufacturing space in Tempe and by far the biggest perk (even better than getting my garage back) was working alongside so many brilliant business owners.

A Place of our Own

We eventually decided to move it closer to home and moved into a quirky little main street space.

Happily Ever After...?

Since then we've had a hundred ups and downs: days when I was ready to burn it all down and go work at Target, and also times when I am absolutely overwhelmed with gratitude that this is my life! We get to make soap for a living! Despite the struggles and uncertaintly, we love that we get to create something beautiful and useful, indulgent and practical for you and the people you love. Thank you for supporting us on this wild adventure, and we are thrilled to supply a little extra delight in your gifting moments, long showers and deep breaths.
